 Firmware Engineer Description
Firmware engineer for several telematics products over the entire development cycle and maintenance of the different products that involve technologies such as vehicle communications, GPS, Bluetooth and cellular modems.
Firmware engineer will design and implement firmware-based solutions for several products to either address issues, improvements or add functionality. Perform tasks such as board bring-up, testing and troubleshooting and document designs. Firmware engineer will work in conjunction with other team members of the project to achieve deliverable. Firmware engineer will work as part of a scrum team where it will require also following the firmware development standards.
From time to time a Firmware engineer may also be required to build tools that allow verification or analysis of the firmware that is being developed, such tools could be (but not limited to) scripting in Python, Perl, bash, test equipment instrumentation, usage of simulators. Will require traveling occasionally for some of the activities to the US
Education and experience required
  • Electrical Electronics Engineer, Computer Engineering, Digital systems Engineer or similar degree required.
  • 4 years experience in the firmware development building and debugging embedded systems using Linux and/or RTOS
  • Strong C language experience.
  • Experience with microcontrollers or SoC level software development in some or similar technical areas: SPI, UART, I2C, ADC, CAN.
  • Experience writing Linux firmware at user-space.
  • Experience with embedded test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, bus analyzers, in-circuit emulators and logic analyzers.
  • Knowledge of electrical concepts and schematics.
  • Knowledge of embedded development best practices and tools.
  • Experience using scripting language such as Python, Perl or similar.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of with version control/configuration management tools such as Subversion or Git.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Creative problem solving
  • Experience with Vehicle Communication protocols and/or Wireless protocols are a plus. Skills
