HP Labs Print and 3D Lab is searching for ambitious, talented research scientists to join in our journey to revolutionize digital manufacturing. We are recruiting talents for the 3D Printing Yield Optimization research line that covers:
  • design for additive manufacturing (including generative design, AI-driven design automation),
  • digital factory management,
  • production optimization, and
  • computational modeling of the 3D printing process.
We are looking for researchers specialized in Material science modeling and simulation and 3D computational geometry and computer aided design. See our candidate profiles listed below. If you believe you fit one (or both) of them, we’d love to hear from you!

Position 1: 3D computational geometry and computer aided design.

Requirements:
  • PhD from a reputable research group in the areas of computer science, computer engineering, computer graphics, 3-D visualization, computer-aided design, scientific computing or other relevant disciplines. 
  • Excellent theoretical foundation in 3-D geometrical modeling, topology optimization, example-based design automation, or machine learning.
  • Sizable research background (PhD thesis or publications) on developing novel 3-D computer-aided design software. 
  • Knowledge of using commercially available 3-D geometrical kernel (ACIS or Parasolids) or open-source kernels is a big plus.
  • Require highly skilled in high-performing C++ programming and GPU programming (either in CUDA or OpenCL).
 
Desirable skills (big plusses):
  • Background in scientific computing (e.g., computational fluid dynamics).
  • Background in 3-D geometrical optimization.
